Megan Kennedy-Kotalik, LCSW
With favorable circumstances and resources, our ability to grow and develop is almost limitless. While we may not easily recognize it, we all have strengths and abilities that can aid changing our lives.
Through the use of cognitive behavioral and solution-focused techniques, I help individuals, couples and families grow through uncovering and building upon those strengths and abilities. The cognitive-behavioral model emphasizes the relationship between our thoughts, feelings, behaviors and life experiences. By monitoring and altering the way we think, we can change the way we feel and behave, and therefore, our overall life experiences. The solution focused approach focuses on solutions and assumes we know what will make our lives better and already possesses at least some skills needed to build solutions. |
Basic principles guiding my work include:
I have been employed the human service field for eight years. In addition to working as an outpatient therapist, I have worked with at- risk youth and their families in schools and transitional housing settings and have experience assisting individuals on the autism spectrum to develop social networks, gain meaningful employment, and live independently.
Like Kambria, I travel every chance I get, as travel and adventure have always been among my favorite hobbies. For me, there’s nothing better than hopping off a plane in a far away land. I enjoy experiencing culture and have found this to be the best way for me to learn and grow as a person.
I have a passion for helping others overcome life's inevitable challenges and look forward to hearing from you!
- People are experts of their lives and situations.
- People are good and doing the best they can.
- We are not defined by our problems.
- Transformation occurs from within.
