Nancy Sperry, LCSW
I acquired my Masters of Social Work degree from The University of Texas at Arlington after working as an educator for 25 years. I have been working as a social worker and counselor for the past eight years in government and non-profit organizations. My experience is with helping adults overcome stigmas dealing with HIV/AIDS, homelessness, drug/ alcohol addictions, mental illness and intellectual disabilities. In helping individuals overcome difficulties they are having in life I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapies, Trauma Informed Care Therapies, Art Therapy, Strength Based Therapy and basic Supportive Psychotherapy. As a therapist I would like to help the client to become their own therapist by finding their personal strengths that will help them overcome any of life’s possible difficulties.
Basic principles guiding my work include:

My personal interests are varied – I love to create original art in various media. I am an aspiring gardener inside and outside of my home which helps me to relax. I love to travel and learn about new places, cultures and ways of life.
I will be facilitating an Art Therapy group which can be a huge benefit to individuals who need a creative and therapeutic vehicle to express their feelings, emotions and thoughts. For some people expressive techniques are the best way they can communicate and let go of the trauma that they have experienced.
