Koyt Kifer, M.Ed, LPC, LCDC, EAGALA
I was born and raised outside of Dallas, Texas and graduated from Ole Miss University with a degree in art. I spent the next decade living and working in various mountainous towns around the United States as a PSIA certified ski instructor during the winters and working with horses during the summers as a trail guide, director of several equine programs, and a farrier.
I was certified as an equine therapy horse specialist through EAGALA (equine assisted growth and learning association) in 2012 and provided equine therapy services during graduate school. I earned a master’s degree from Hardin Simmons University in counseling then became certified as a Mental Health Professional with EAGALA. |
I have worked as a professional counselor for the past ten years as a primary therapist for diverse caseloads that required residential dual diagnosis treatment, co-facilitated several equine therapy programs, and continued to work with horses while counseling in other settings. I have experience working with many demographics who struggle with a wide range of mental health issues.
I have experience working with the military and in a private practice utilizing both virtual and in person settings. I am trained in EMDR therapy (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), and a large portion of my practice has focused on trauma and PTSD.
