Melissa Fowler, MS, NCC, LPC Associate
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (TX #86556). I completed my graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Texas A&M University – Commerce in May 2021. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Psychology from the Texas A&M University in 2013. My degree also has an emphasis in Gender Studies.
During my graduate course work, I have gained experiences in individual and group counseling for adolescents and adults. Areas in counseling which I have focused my experiences are addiction and various types of trauma including domestic violence, family violence, and sexual abuse. I have also received training for facilitating SMART Recovery groups. My primary counseling theory is Person-Centered, which helps people achieve their personal growth and changes through self-understanding and empowerment. When counseling addictive behaviors I utilize techniques found in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) and SMART Recovery to provide tools for an individual to succeed in their journey to recovery. When provided tools and resources, people have the chance to find what works best for their life style and combine them to fit their individual needs and facilitate the change they want to see in their lives. |
In my free time I enjoy going to Renaissance Festivals with my partner and exploring the creative world each festival portrays. When not exploring the villages of the 16th century I like to spend time with my family, and having quality time to slow down with them and be in the present moment with them.
